The “www.dutch-sustainable.com” is an initiative from the Consulate General of the Netherlands in New York and is funded by the Netherlands Foreign Trade Agency. The main reason to start up this project is the growing demand in the US for sustainable energy technology.
The Netherlands has a strong history in sustainable energy technologies. Due to the existence of demanding energy policies in the country to improve energy efficiency and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, the Netherlands has become one of the most innovative countries on sustainable energy technologies. Some of the most known and strong technologies are:
Energy conservation and management
Such as, devices developed to measure and illustrate energy consumption, and high efficiency (residential) boilers
Applications and solutions for the built environment
Such as, solar hot water heaters, heat pumps, wind turbines for the built environment, solar integration products and measurement devices.
New energy supply technologies
Such as, offshore technology for wind energy, crystalline solar cells (specifically for flexible applications), heat & cold storage, biomass gasification and ocean energy.
Dutch technologies and experience in this field could help the US sustainable energy market to meet the growing demand in an effective and innovative way. The US has already expressed an interest in learning from the Dutch pioneering experiences. The Partnering of Dutch and American companies provide better opportunities for both parties to tap into the potentially large renewable energy market in the US.
The initiative of the Tradedirectory (www.dutch-sustainable.com) aims to introduce Dutch energy companies in the US sustainable energy market, in order for American parties to easily find their way to the technology they are interested in.
